A visit from Finnegan the falcon

Today the Audubon Society came to Puddletown. They showed us a slideshow and told us about birds of prey. Then we passed around wings, talons, and skulls from real birds.

Our bird eyes

Amelia and a talon

Matilda, Audrey, Emmy and a bird wing

Noe, True and a talon

Phoebe, Netti, and Oliver explore some parts of birds

Last, Robin, a volunteer from the Audubon Society, brought in Finnegan the Peregrine Falcon. He was a little nervous at first but then settled down.
It was awesome!
Thanks to Andrea, Robin and Finnegan from the Audubon Society for coming to visit.

Owl Pellets

This afternoon the Sage children dissected owl pellets (we have had an action packed week). They used their journals to record their findings. There were many "oooohs" and "aaaahhs" as the children carefully used tweezers to pull apart the pellets and discovered tiny skulls and other bones inside.
